EMILY JEFFERS ’13

Emily JeffersEmily Jeffers, a broadcast-cinema major, knew at a young age that she wanted to work in the communications industry, so choosing her broadcast-cinema major was a no-brainer. And choosing MxCC to reach her educational and career goals was easy for her since she had heard such great things about the Broadcast department and the professors who teach here.

After starting at MxCC, Emily was surprised with the amount of classes that were offered to her. She didn’t think sheEmily Jeffers would be jumping right into the broadcasting world in her first semester, but she was glad to have the hands-on experience right away.

Emily believes that she has learned a lot from MxCC in terms of real world experience. Whether she is putting together a news package in less than two hours for her Broadcast Journalism class or studying the history of the news media, she is confident that the amount of real world and hands-on experiences she received here will carry her throughout her career.

During her time at MxCC, she interred at Channel 3 Eyewitness News in the news department and feels like her experience and coursework at MxCC has helped her land her internship. Since graduating from MxCC in 2013, Emily transferred to American University in Washington, D.C. and received a bachelor’s degree to help her attain her career goal of being a television news reporter.

Presently, Emily works as an Associate Producer for NBC News in New York City.
